Team GB saved their best performance of this years championship for their semi-final game against Australia, this game showcased exactly what the GB team can do. In the group stage game between these two teams the game was taken all the way to sudden death overtime. From the opening face off the same result did not look on the cards GB dominated on the puck and off the puck the entire game closing the Aussies to at best low percentage shots.
Assistant coach Dan Wood said of the team performance “the team showed great discipline and showed what the are capable off”.
The scoring today was opened by Daniel Hutchinson assisted by Richard Walsh and Alex Pearman early on in the game, the second goal did not come till late into the second period whilst GB were on the powerplay scored by Finney assisted by Hamer. Team GB scored a further three more goals in the third period the first coming from Shelton assisted by Pearman, it was then Pearmans time to get into the goals scored column scoring a couple in the space of two and a half minutes with two assists going to Nathan Finney and one going to Hutchinson the last goal for GB was at 43:04 scored by Phil Hamer, it was not until 46:02 that the Aussies got onto the score sheet.
Team GB will play the winner of Austria Vs Hungary for the gold medal which will be live free on the internet.
