GB Beat South Africa to Finish Fifth

Great Britain 11-2 South Africa

Great Britain finished the 2007 IIHF In-Line World Championships with a 11-2 victory over South Africa to finish 5th in Division One. After a rollercoaster tournament that saw GB come within 29 seconds of a place in Pool A in an eventual overtime defeat by Austria, then lose by one goal to last year’s silver medallists Hungary in the quarterfinals the team rebounded to comfortably despatch South Africa and claim 5th spot in the Division. Hungary Oust GB in Quarterfinals

Great Britain 3-4 Hungary

Hungary gained revenge for their final loss at the 2006 IIHF In-Line World Championships with a quarterfinal upset of Great Britain in the 2007 tournament held in Passau, Germany. From the start GB struggled to elevate themselves to the levels of earlier in the week where they missed out on promotion to Pool A by a goal in overtime in a promotion playoff on Wednesday after topping their preliminary round group. Great Britain Miss out on Promotion

Great Britain 5-6 Austria (OT)

Great Britain narrowly missed out on promotion at the 2007 IIHF In-Line Hockey World Championships after an overtime loss to Pool A side Austria. GB led by two goals in the final period however a late Austrian comeback meant that GB will continue in Division One of the tournament and have an opportunity to retain the Division One title won last year in Hungary. Great Britain today secured a fine win against Japan in their third and final preliminary round game at the 2007 IIHF In-Line Hockey World Championships to seal first place in their group and an opportunity to play for promotion to the world’s elite division. [more]

Great Britain 7-2 Namibia

Great Britain scored seven times in a second successive game as they cruised past Namibia in their second game at the 2007 International Ice Hockey Federation In-Line World Championship in Passau winning by a margin of 7-2. Dundee Stars forward John Dolan scored his second hat-trick in two days while GB captain Simon Hehir of the Durham Inline Hockey club tallied five assists as GB’s first line dominated, scoring six of seven goals, four of which came on the powerplay. GB Open 2007 Account with Comfortable Win

South Africa 1 - 7 Great Britain

Great Britain opened their account at the 2007 International Ice Hockey Federation In-Line World Championship in Passau , Germany with a comfortable 7-1 win against tournament minnows South Africa . John Dolan scored a hat-trick and additional goals from Chris Colegate, who also bagged three assists, Kris Hendy, Aaron Shinwell and Joe Wighman helped GB to an easy win in their group opener.
